What is Depression?
Depression is more than just being sad or unhappy. It is an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness and despair. Depression is caused by a variety of factors, including stressful life events, brain chemistry, family history, and genetics.
While depression is one of the most common mental health issues, everyone experiences it differenty. There are so many different symptoms of depression, including emotional, physical, and behavioural symptoms, that no two people will experience depression the same.

- Muscle soreness
- Neck pain
- Constant headaches
- Heavy eyelids
Depression Looks Like
- Absent from work/school
- Can't get out of bed
- Not engaging in previously enjoyed hobbies/activities
- Ignoring phone calls/text messages
Our counsellors are here to help people understand their unique experience with depression and provide them with the necessary tools and strategies to work through their depression.
We also understand that it can be difficult supporting someone living with depression. Our counsellors also assist individuals and families with loved ones experiencing depression to help them understand what depression is and how they can be supportive to the person they care about.
